Your Invitation Awaits… Step Into the Shadows.
I’m M.D. Petrocco, author of Moons and Shadows—a fantasy novel that weaves together resilience, healing, identity, and transformation.
My stories are known for their emotional depth and atmospheric detail, where magic and reality blend to explore what it truly means to heal and grow.
Stories have always been my refuge, but for years, I let doubt and criticism silence my voice. Eventually, I found my way back to writing by turning personal struggles into immersive worlds, vivid imagery, and characters who speak with raw, honest voices.
I write for anyone who’s ever felt lost, held back, or on the edge of becoming something more.
Beyond writing, I’ve spent most of my life in education—growing up in the classroom and dedicating over a decade to online learning, especially in gifted and talented programs. My love for character analysis, story development, and long, meaningful discussions spills naturally into my writing. I’m fascinated by the layers that make us who we are - and I bring that curiosity to every character I create.
I’m an early riser, a lover of words and quotes, and always chasing the next level of growth. When I’m not writing, you’ll find me working out in the quiet of my home (where the best ideas always show up), or curled up with my little toy poodle, Jaxie, and my husband, Christopher.
If you’re looking for stories that feel both familiar and otherworldly—with characters you’ll want to fight for—I’d love to share my world with you. Runa, Izayah, Daxler, Rayanna, and Nester are awaiting your arrival to Starlight.
Moons and Shadows arrives this July. I can’t wait for you to step into The Lands, where the lines between imagination and reality blur.

Born and raised in western Pennsylvania, she carries the grit, tenacity, and love of pierogies that comes with it. A longtime graphic designer with more experience than she'd like to admit, she’s spent years mixing words with graphics and making the logo bigger. Her joy lives in the everyday: music playing, laughter echoing, and the sun shining down during family time with her husband, kids, grandkids, and cherished friends. Fueled by humor, dark chocolate, and an (admittedly unrealistic) dream of becoming a full-time philanthropist, she strives to be the best version of herself every day.
