The Courage to Ask the Question

In the Moonlighters community, one truth rises above the rest:

We don’t grow in silence - we grow in shared wonder.

As the author of Moons & Shadows, I’ve seen it again and again - readers whispering to me privately, hesitant to ask something “obvious,” scared they “missed something,” unsure if they’re “smart enough” to be in this space.

But this story was never meant to be a test.

It was always meant to be a conversation.

And conversations begin with questions.

Maybe you caught something that made your heart skip.

Maybe you didn’t understand a moment and it left you tangled.

Maybe you’re standing at the edge of the scene, thinking, “Am I the only one who didn’t get it?”

You’re not. And you’re not alone.

In the world of Starlight and Shadow, everyone sees through a different lens. Some notice the scent in the air. Others, a word tucked between the lines. Someone else feels it in their bones and can’t explain why. That’s the magic of story.

And that’s where Ezekiel speaks wisdom: 🕊️

“One candle lights another—not by proving it burns brighter, but by being willing to share the flame. So ask the question. You may spark something they didn’t yet see. And they may reveal what you didn’t know you were missing.”

Ezekiel, Keeper of the Balance

Whether you’re new to the story or reading it for the second (or third) time, your perspective matters. Your questions matter. And the only way we carry light forward is together.

So to my fellow Moonlighters:

Be bold enough to ask.

Be kind enough to answer.

And be brave enough to believe that you belong here.

Welcome home.
